A Magic Christmas Tree Lighting at Grand Kempinski Hotel Shanghai

Shanghai, 27 November 2024The Grand Kempinski Hotel Shanghai marked the beginning of its Christmas and New Year celebrations with a Christmas tree-lighting ceremony on 27 November.

The hotel celebrates the yuletide season and honours holiday traditions by taking guests on an incredible journey of the imagination in hopes of maximising a Christmas fantasy.

The traditional Christmas tree-lighting ceremony at the hotel lobby began with festivities. Guests enjoyed seasonal delicacies, including hot chocolate; Christmas baked goodies, eggnog and mulled wine. At 6:30pm, children from Wellington International School Choir sang and shared the spirit of the season with their parents and friends. General Manager Mark Kirk started the Christmas countdown, with all the lights on the hotel Christmas decorations brightening. After the launching ceremony, Santa Claus appeared, bearing gifts for the children.

This year, Grand Kempinski Hotel Shanghai once again teamed up with Diversey (China) to disinfect and reprocess discarded guest soap in the hotel into new environmentally friendly soap. All the funds raised will be invested in the upcoming soap production project. The project is not only intended to create more employment opportunities and care for disabled people in the ‘Me and You’ disability service society but also to distribute their hard-earned environmentally friendly soap to families or disadvantaged groups in impoverished communities, improve the hygiene conditions of children in impoverished mountainous areas of China and reduce the risk of illness.

Christmas goodies are now ready for guests to take home for a Christmas Eve feast. These goodies are guaranteed to put you in the right mood for the holiday season.
