Štrbské Pleso, 18 October 2023 - Grand Restaurant in Grand Hotel Kempinski High Tatras succeeded in the prestigious World Culinary Awards and won the title of the Best Hotel Restaurant in Slovakia for 2023. This award has rewarded excellence in the gastronomy industry since 2020, and this is the third time in a row that the hotel on the shore of Lake Štrbské Pleso is a recipient of this award.

The annual World Culinary Awards competition offers an overview of the best restaurants in the world. The Grand Restaurant under the leadership of Miroslav Zamiška won the third championship, making it the most awarded hotel restaurant in Slovakia in this survey.

‘We are very pleased to have been selected as the best hotel restaurant in Slovakia for the third year in a row. It’s all thanks to the team of people who perform their culinary art in the Grand Restaurant with passion and love. We all pay attention to freshness and prepare all meals with the highest-quality ingredients from local and verified suppliers. The menu is seasonal, and its creation takes several months. This includes weeks of testing and fine-tuning the recipes’, says Miroslav Zamiška, chef of the Grand Restaurant.

The overall primacy of the restaurant in the High Tatras was decided by the evaluations of experts, the media and the public. Evaluation includes work with ingredients, offered menu and overall approach to guests.

‘If I look back, I can see that the team around Chef Miroslav Zamiška is progressing. The result is not only this award. Our guests compliment the quality of our food, as well as the creativity of our cooks. This is also true for this year’s Signature dessert, which contains confit garlic in the form of a delicious ice cream’, says Kathrin Noll, general manager of Grand Hotel Kempinski High Tatras.

The Culinary Oscars, as this gastronomic award is nicknamed, is a global initiative to promote the highest quality in the culinary world. On a global scale, the categories of Best Restaurant, Best New Restaurant or Best Hotel Restaurant are awarded.

Professionals and the general public voted for their favourite culinary brands from 31 May to 30 June of last year, and the winners were announced at the World Culinary Awards Gala Ceremony 2023 in Dubai Atlantis The Royal Hotel on 16 October 2023.
