This initiative empowers hotel guests to make a tangible impact by adding an optional CHF 1 per night to their bill, with 100% of these contributions directly supporting glacier conservation projects.

The Morteratsch glacier, a majestic symbol of natural splendour and ecological importance, is visibly succumbing to the effects of global warming. Once extending deep into the valley, its retreat over recent decades highlights the urgent need for conservation efforts. The situation mirrors a global crisis, with glaciers in regions such as the Himalayas and the Andes facing similar challenges, directly affecting water supplies for millions.

Offering a glimmer of hope, the Mortalive project proposes innovative solutions to significantly slow the glacier’s melting, potentially extending its lifespan by up to 50 years. This includes the innovative approach of recycling meltwater for local snow-making, effectively insulating the glacier with a protective layer of snow throughout the year.
