€14,000 for ‘Bürger helfen Bürgern’ and the ‘Förderverein Kinderneurologie Königstein’

€14,000 for ‘Bürger helfen Bürgern’ and the ‘Förderverein Kinderneurologie Königstein’

Königstein, 14th September 2015. The choice of social institutions that can now look forward to a donation of €7000 each shows that the Königstein Lions Club and their motto of ‘We serve’ applies not only to national and international causes. During the course of a members’ evening in the former Rothschild residence, the club president, Kevin Devine, handed over the donations to the heads of two institutions that care for people in and around Königstein who can no longer care for themselves. The money raised was collected during the Lions Spring Ball 2015 in the Falkenstein Grand Kempinski and this year will benefit the Bürger helfen Bürgern (Citizens helping Citizens) initiative and the Förderverein Kinderneurologie Königstein (Königstein Friends Association for Paediatric Neurology).

The two chairpersons, Angelika Rupf for Bürger helfen Bürgern and Monika Benz for the Förderverein Kinderneurologie Königstein, were overjoyed and very grateful for the support provided by the Lions Club. Both stressed that the money was more than urgent for the continued support of their respective interests. Monika Benz outlined the fact that her association was currently involved in moving to new premises. In addition to the necessary renovation work and purchases for their new home, the money would go to financing the high costs associated with the children’s conductive education. Angelika Rupf stressed that the money was desperately needed on the one hand for acute emergencies to fellow Königstein citizens identified by the executive board and local social services, and, on the other, for supporting the St. Raphael nursing home as well as assisting a group of MS sufferers and the severely handicapped.

The Königstein Spring Ball organised by the Königstein Lions Club takes place annually in the Villa Rothschild Kempinski’s sister hotel, the Falkenstein Grand Kempinski. The donation sum made available to different charitable causes is generated from ticket sales, the prize draw with an American auction and from sponsorship money. This year, in addition to others, Autohaus Marnet, Breuninger, Fidelity and the Falkenstein Grand Kempinski with its Ascara Fitness & Spa Club committed themselves to becoming platinum sponsors. The next Lions Spring Ball is scheduled for 18th March 2016 taking place as it has in previous years in the Villa Rothschild’s sister hotel, the Falkenstein Grand Kempinski.
