Qatar´s National Soccer Team in Frankfurt
The 3 weeks long training camp consisted in improving the power of endurance and coordination of the young players, so that they can successfully pass the qualifying rounds in this year’s Asia Cup. The tournament will take place in Iraq, during the Ramadan in the month of August this year. Preparations for the Asian Cup are extremely intensive: the U16 players from Qatar and their coaching staff will be far away from the sandy lands of the petrol-state for 3 long months as they get ready for the upcoming tournament.
The Qatari youngsters carry big hopes of the tiny Emirate of Qatar: the desert-state will host the 2022 FIFA Soccer World Cup and by then, this 14-15 year old teenagers are likely to be at the top of their soccer playing level and they should so represent their sheikdom during this outstanding competition.
Having two training sessions per day, including strength trainings in the gym and soccer trainings in the neighbouring “Neu Isenburger Sportpark”, was essential for the young players to improve their condition and endurance, as they faced local teams FSV Frankfurt and FC Wetzlar in friendly matches on July 7th and 9th respectively, also as part of their preparations for the Asia Cup. Ample of spare time was also guaranteed for the youngsters: the U16 football players enjoyed an excursion to amusement park “Phantasialand Bruehl” and they also went shopping to “Loop 5” in Weiterstadt.
General Manager Thomas M. Fischer expressed his best wishes and the best of luck to the 37 Qatari guests, who left the Kempinski Hotel Gravenbruch Frankfurt today in the early morning hours as they departed to Frankfurt International Airport to fly to their next training camp in Kazakhstan.
