Enjoy the signature dish of Kempinski Hotel Chongqing. Chongqing “DanDan” Noodles perfectly reflect Chongqing and introduce typical local flavours with Sichuan pepper and Sichuan chilli oil.

It consists of chilli oil, Sichuan pepper oil, sesame paste, peanut butter, sesame oil, broth, ginger, garlic and soy sauce. According to the legend from 1841, a vendor called Chen Baobao from Sichuan created “DanDan” noodles. He carried a pole called a “DanDan” over his shoulder with two baskets containing noodles and sauce attached at either end. This type of carrying is typical for the mountain region of Chongqing with its steep hills and many stairs. The combination of the noodles and sauce became immensely popular and due to its origin, people began calling them “DanDan” noodles.
