Hailuo Valley is also known as No.1 Glacier. It is 14.7 km (9.1 mi) long and is the longest of the 71 glaciers of Mount Gongga.
Hailuo Valley occupies a total area of 16 sq km (6.2 sq mi), with the highest point at 6,750m (22,145.7 ft) and the lowest at 2,850m (9,350.4 ft). It can be divided into three different parts: the firm basin, which covers the main part of the glacier: the 500 * 100 m (1,640.4 x 328.1 ft) wide and 1,080 m (3,543.3 ft) high icefall, the biggest one in China and finally the grand forest stretching over 6 km (3.7 mi), forming strange scenes of coexistence between ice and forest.
