20 years of the Adlon – a legendary hotel celebrates its anniversary

Berlin, July 26, 2017 – First opened in 1907 by the great visionary entrepreneur, Lorenz Adlon, the luxury hotel celebrated its reopening at the historic Pariser Platz in 1997. To mark its 20th anniversary, guests will be able to take advantage of a variety of special offers in the hotel from 23 August until the end of the year and gain an exclusive insight into life at the Adlon.

“Adlon oblige” – birthday party in Restaurant Quarré (23.08.2017)

An impressive birthday party will be staged in Restaurant Quarré to mark the start of the anniversary celebrations on 23 August. After a champagne reception on the terrace with a view of the Brandenburg Gate, guests can delight in a six-course menu in true Adlon-style and spend the evening in pleasant conversation, listening to music. The event also includes the opportunity to take part in an exclusive hotel tour beforehand.

Ticket price: EUR 139.00 per person including champagne reception, six-course menu with wine accompaniment, water & coffee/tea, starting time: 6:30 p.m. Advance booking required for hotel tour from 6 p.m.

Four stars in Lorenz Adlon Esszimmer (19.11.2017)

When the hotel was reopened in 1997, Karlheinz Hauser was executive chef in Hotel Adlon. The Lorenz Adlon Esszimmer was opened under his direction in the year 2000 and he had already received his first Michelin star by 2001. He is now returning to his old workplace for the twentieth anniversary. The current head chef of the two-star gourmet restaurant, Hendrik Otto, looks forward to welcoming his predecessor who has also been awarded two Michelin stars and who now works at Hotel Süllberg. Hendrik will be cooking with him at this unique meeting and serving guests in an exclusive setting. The guests can look forward to a unique dining experience and will be invited on a journey to revisit the classic dishes of the past 20 years.

Ticket price: EUR 350.00 per person including five-course menu with wine accompaniment, water & coffee/tea. Start time: 7 p.m.

“Kuidaore” at the Sra Bua by Tim Raue

If you are on the look-out for something really different, you will find exactly what you are looking for at the Sra Bua IZAKAYA from 12 September. The team at Sra Bua by Tim Raue is inviting guests to “Kuidaore” or literally “to eat themselves bankrupt”! Guests are served a variety of different dishes and can therefore try out the full range of culinary options available. Just like the original Japanese concept, you will also find this version a unique gastronomic experience.

Ticket price: EUR 199.70, menu for 2 people “Kuidaore”, existing of 20 small dishes including an aperitif, a bottle of red or white wine, water & coffee/tea.

Stage for Young Artists (23.08.2017)

The hotel’s birthday is also the start of the new musical series “Stage for Young Artists”. Launched by Kempinski Hotels to mark their 120th company anniversary in 2017, the hotel lobbies in all Kempinski hotels will be transformed into a stage for talented young musicians. Hotel Adlon Kempinski will be the first hotel in the group to start this programme. In collaboration with the University of the Arts, the hotel has already engaged a number of very promising musical talents to showcase their talents in the hotel lobby every Friday or Saturday in the early evening (from 6:30 p.m.) from 23 August until the end of the year.

Adlon Hall of Fame & “Feuerzangenbowle” in the Lobby Bar

Our bar team will be celebrating the anniversary with a selection of special cocktails – including "August ‘97", "The President’s Choice" and "The Queen’s Cup of Tea". The drinks will be offered one after the other in the Lobby Bar, for a limited period from 23 August.
During Advent, the Lobby Bar will also be offering a freshly prepared “Feuerzangenbowle” (rum-soaked sugar loaf set alight over mulled wine) as a special treat which will be served from 6 p.m.

Anniversary offer in Adlon Spa by Resense

In the over 900-square-metre spa and wellness area of the hotel, guests can completely relax and leave their daily routines behind them. The spa manager Marcus Fry has a very special package on offer – for every booking of a La Prairie facial treatment (60 or 90 min.), guests will receive a La Prairie gift set with three cleansing products.
