The Kempinski Hotel Beijing's 2nd year cookie fundraising campaign
30 grade-six students and 2 Pastry Chefs from Kempinski Hotel Beijing baked 4000 cookies together and sold them out in the Kempinski Beijing Hotel Lobby within 4 hours and successfully raised CNY13,400.
As the 2nd year of the joint charity campaign, the grade-six students from Tsing Hua International School (below mentioned as THIS) dare to challenge their senior classmate’s record in 2011 and raise their goal double times of last year. Compared with the record last year, the fund is increased by CNY 5,000 in total.
“Thank you so much for your kind support on the cookie fundraising campaign. It was a great success in many aspects. First of all, the meeting that you have arranged was such an enlightening experience for children to learn how to face adult with dignity. The delicious cookie dough prepared by your chefs was most generous, both in quality and quantity”, said Jean Yu, the acting president of Tsinghua International School Parents Association. “The lively hotel lobby provided a great environment for kids to make sales. That was a busy and happy weekend. The rewards to the children were far beyond the money earned for charity. Children learned how to get people involved to care and share.”
“It is an interesting and inspiring experience to me and my colleagues”, said Paul Kelly, the Executive Pastry Chef. “No doubt our pastry is very popular in town. But more importantly, the pastry we made with THIS will help some children living in poverty to improve their living standard hopefully.”
According to the Hotel and THIS, they will continue the success and plan to host an Art Auction to raise charity fund in next January. More details will be shared soon.
