Bali, Indonesia – 25 April 2025 – Two iconic names in Indonesia’s cultural landscape - renowned musician Indra Lesmana and award-winning resort The Apurva Kempinski Bali - have joined forces to launch Swara Apurva, a musical composition inspired by the sacred Balinese philosophy of Dewata Nawa Sanga. Rooted deeply in Bali’s spiritual traditions, this unique collaboration symbolises the profound essence and rich narratives of Indonesia’s heritage and biodiversity. Swara Apurva represents a harmonious dialogue between traditional wisdom and contemporary innovation, delivering an immersive guest experience that resonates powerfully on an international scale.
Launching as a key initiative following The Apurva Kempinski Bali’s sixth anniversary celebration, Swara Apurva serves as the new resort’s musical anthem, embodying its identity and forming an integral part of its 2025 brand campaign, 'Powerful Indonesia to the World'. Inspired by Bali’s sacred Dewata Nawa Sanga philosophy, Swara Apurva features nine original compositions, each representing the unique spiritual energy and cultural character of Bali’s nine cardinal directions. Guests will experience Swara Apurva’s compositions integrated seamlessly throughout the resort’s ambience, enriching their daily experiences. Each of the nine compositions will be thoughtfully curated and played across key resort areas, including the majestic lobby, serene hallways, and elegantly designed guest rooms. Additionally, personalised playlists inspired by the nine cardinal directions of Dewata Nawa Sanga will be offered, allowing guests to immerse themselves more deeply and intimately into the resort’s cultural storytelling during their stay.

Lesmana’s illustrious career includes his extensive musical exploration across various genres of music from jazz, pop, progressive rock, contemporary, ethnographic and world music. His historic milestones such as the first Indonesian recording artist to release international albums in US in 1984, his groundbreaking performance at Tokyo’s renowned Blue Note where he became the first Indonesian artist to represent the country on the global jazz stage, and his legacy concert that involved more than 100 musicians including the orchestra played his multi genre compositions. This iconic moment cemented his role as a cultural ambassador, seamlessly blending Indonesian heritage with international jazz influences. With Swara Apurva, his 103rd musical creation, Lesmana further expands his legacy, reimagining Indonesia’s musical traditions through an innovative fusion of traditional instruments and contemporary global sounds.
Lesmana’s compositions thoughtfully blend varies of Indonesian indigenous instruments, including gamelan, rindik, jegog, suling, kendang, kecapi, angklung, sape, sulim, sasando, along with soundscape of Indonesia's flora and fauna with contemporary international styles such as piano and string quartet. This innovative fusion creates a multi-sensory musical journey that highlights Indonesia’s rich heritage while appealing to global audiences. Swara Apurva further showcases Indonesian craftsmanship through collaborations with Indonesia's musicians and incorporates sustainable principles in each note, reflecting the natural harmony and balance central to the Dewata Nawa Sanga philosophy.
