Geneva, Switzerland – 14 November, 2025 – Kempinski Hotels has announced the appointment of seasoned hospitality executive, Alan Chin, as Managing Director for Greater China and Mongolia and General Manager of KEY International Hotels Management Co. Ltd, in a move to strengthen the group’s presence and accelerate growth in one of its most dynamic markets. In this role, Alan will join Kempinski’s Group Executive Committee and oversee the brand’s operations and development across the region, driving expansion and supporting the company’s ongoing business transformation.
Chin’s appointment comes as Kempinski Hotels enters a new phase of growth in China, aligning with its long-term strategy to diversify its brand portfolio and enhance its market presence. The company has outlined ambitious plans to expand its Chinese heritage luxury offerings and to introduce a new lifestyle hospitality brand tailored to evolving travel trends, reflecting its commitment to combining timeless European luxury with modern innovation to meet the rising demand from Chinese travellers.
“We are thrilled to welcome Alan to the Kempinski family in this pivotal role,” said Barbara Muckermann, Chief Executive Officer of Kempinski Hotels. “His strategic vision and commercial acumen combined with deep-rooted knowledge of the Chinese market will be invaluable as we reinforce our position as a leader in luxury hospitality. Alan’s proven track record of transforming businesses and elevating brand presence aligns perfectly with our ambitions. We are confident that his leadership will accelerate our growth and strengthen our partnerships across Greater China.”
Chin brings more than two decades of hospitality and real estate experience in Greater China, with a strong record in the hospitality industry, business development, and strategic leadership. Prior to joining Kempinski, he held senior roles at Accor Hotels and the China Hospitality Fund, where he led product and project development and investment site sourcing. He joined Banyan Tree Hotels & Resorts in 2010 and, over 15 years with the group, held several leadership roles, including Chief Executive Officer and Board Director of Banyan Tree China and Senior Vice President of Banyan Tree Holdings. In these roles, he oversaw business operations, portfolio expansion, and brand positioning across China’s luxury hospitality market.
In his new role, Alan will focus on strengthening Kempinski’s luxury portfolio while spearheading new business initiatives to cater to the evolving market. His mandate includes driving strategic growth opportunities, forging partnerships, and ensuring the delivery of Kempinski’s renowned standards of luxury and service across all properties in Greater China and Mongolia.
“It is a privilege to lead the Greater China and Mongolia region for Kempinski,” said Alan Chin. “I am truly honoured to join such a prestigious brand and work with its talented team. I look forward to building on past successes, fostering a culture of excellence, and delivering on our shared vision for growth and innovation in this key market.”
