Beirut, June 2022 – Inspired by its love for art and its will to encourage local artists, Kempinski Summerland Hotel and Resort is hosting an art exhibition by Mitchell Kanaan titled Humanity: shapes and colours.
Mitchell Kanaan is an artist at heart who was able to illustrate his personal philosophy of life in an art of his own. Born in the Lebanese northern village of Zgharta, he moved to the USA at teenage before returning to settle in his country of origin, Lebanon. He studied Theatre and TV and Political Sciences which led him to write for several newspapers and direct plays and commercials before rediscovering himself as an artist. Drawing was a self-expression that he grew up with and shaped the self-taught artist that he is today.
Unconventional, his works are a mix of pointillism as a technique and Naif Art in appearance, in addition to his very own 3D Mosaic art. The 3D Mosaic requires more than a layer of paint to give the 3D effect. It is an art technique that he developed and had the exclusivity to use for several years in the USA.
Mitchell’s colourful dots draw his mind’s journeys sometimes on canvas and some other onto solid wood. His works are the voice of his soul as it tries to meditate Life in all its aspects.
He had several exhibitions in the USA, Canada, Kuwait in addition to Lebanon and his works were sold in Germany, London, France and Belgium.
The art pieces curated for this exhibition are the expression of Mitchell’s meditation on humanity and will be on display until June 30.
