The abundance of water sources, the fine weather, the fertile soil, and the expertise of Lebanese winemakers come together to produce exceptional wines, some of which have achieved international renown. If you are a true wine lover, this is your opportunity to spend your best vacation doing exactly what you love.
1 - Château Kefraya
Located in the West Bekaa Valley, the large estate of Château Kefraya has been in the Bustros family for generations. The castle, constructed in 1946 on an artificial hill used by the Romans to observe troop movements, saw significant development under founder and visionary Michel de Bustros, who planted vineyards on the rolling hillsides. Today, Château Kefraya wines are enjoyed in more than 40 countries across five continents. It is located 61 km away from Beirut, in the West Bekaa Valley.
2 - Château Ksara
Established in 1857 by Jesuit priests, Château Ksara produced Lebanon's first dry red wine. It is the oldest and most renowned winery in Lebanon, with an annual production of approximately 3 million bottles exported to 42 countries worldwide. The wines of Château Ksara are characterised by a unique balance of dry fruitiness, delicacy, coarseness, freshness and vigour. It is located 59 km away from Beirut, in Zahlé, near the West Bekaa Valley.
3 - IXSIR
Committed to sustainable agriculture, IXSIR's vineyards span the mountains of Lebanon, benefiting from the unique microclimates the region offers. Situated on calcareous-clay and limestone soil from Batroun to Jezzine, IXSIR's vineyards reach an altitude of 1,800 m, making them the highest in the Northern Hemisphere. They are located 58 km from Beirut, in Batroun.
For the ultimate local experience, Kempinski Summerland has collaborated with IXSIR Winery to create the perfect wine country retreat package. This includes a complete tour of the winery, a tasting package and a lunch in the midst of the vineyard - all with round-trip transportation available.
4- Chateau Trois Collines
One of the newest wineries and vineyards in Lebanon is Château Trois Collines. The terroirs were discovered by pure accident in 2009!
When the domain was first bought, it was intended to be used for a stone quarry near the further end of the Bekaa. The founder completely changed the purpose of his land after one of the experts did an on-site observation when he was working on installing machinery and making plans to start digging. Rather than continue mining, all operations were halted, and other issues took precedence! In order to identify all the criteria and choose the best grape types and rootstocks for this new industry of vinegrowing and winemaking, weather data covering the previous 10 years was collected along with soil analysis.
5- Domaine des Tourelles
Located near the renowned historical ruins of Baalbeck and framed by the Bacchus Temple in Lebanon, Domaine des Tourelles Winery oversees 100 acres of vineyards in the picturesque village of Ammik. The winery boasts a winemaking legacy dating back one and a half centuries, beginning in 1868 by François-Eugène Brun in Chtaura.
