Engelberg, 25 June 2021 - The time has finally come: Following a construction period of around five years, General Manager Andreas Magnus severed the ribbon with Kempinski CEO ad interim Bernold Schröder, Lijun Yu, Managing Director of Han’s Holding Group, and Thomas Dittrich, CEO of Han’s Europe AG, the company owning and developing the building, for the opening of the new Kempinski Palace Engelberg on 25 June 2021 (www.kempinski.com). Abbot Christian Meyer of Engelberg Monastery was also present at the official opening ceremony and blessed the new hotel. A larger public celebration is planned for the end of the year.


June 25, 2021, marks a new milestone in the history of the Kempinski Group. With the opening of the five-star superior Kempinski Palace Engelberg - Titlis Swiss Alps, Kempinski is adding another luxurious establishment to its more than 120 years tradition. The construction took a total of five years. The historic structure of the former Grandhotel Winterhaus has been preserved and an additional, new hotel wing has been built. The result is an architectural masterpiece that skilfully combines the traditional and the modern. After cutting the ribbon, General Manager Andreas Magnus and his team were able to welcome the first guests to the new Kempinski Palace Engelberg. In future, around 130 employees will provide unique around the clock services for the well-being of guests with passion and much attention to detail.
 

Only 40 minutes by car from Lucerne, the first and only international five-star hotel in Engelberg offers 129 rooms and suites with a stunning view on the beautiful mountain scenery. Thereby the historical and modern parts of the imposing building merge into a harmonious unity. The Kempinski Palace Engelberg provides countless unique facilities and experiences including a rooftop infinity pool as part of its spa with a breathtaking mountain view or unique gastronomic offers with regional and seasonal products by the "Cattani Restaurant”, "The Palace Bar" with Habanos Lounge and the "Wintergarden". Nine modern event and conference rooms and the historic Kursaal are specially tailored to the guests’ needs. In addition, the Kempinski Palace Engelberg and its picturesque surroundings offer a variety of leisure activities in summer and winter. The developer and owner of the building is Han’s Europe AG. The building of the hotel benefits not just the Engelberg region, but the whole of Central Switzerland. The hotel business has created around 130 new jobs and long term relationships with construction companies and suppliers, as well as local and regional businesses.
