Sound Bath Retreat at Kempinski Palace Engelberg: Deep relaxation meets modern wellbeing

Sound Healing Retreat

In the midst of the impressive mountain world of Engelberg, Kempinski Palace Engelberg will host an exclusive Sound Bath Retreat on three weekends this summer. This multi-sensory experience combines deep relaxation with a modern approach to wellbeing and longevity.

Wellbeing re-thought: sound as the key to regeneration

In recent years, sound bathing has become a popular trend in the international wellness industry. Unlike traditional relaxation methods, it uses specific frequencies and vibrations to induce a meditative state in both body and mind. Neuroscientific research shows that targeted sound frequencies activate the parasympathetic nervous system, thereby reducing stress, improving sleep, and promoting regenerative cell processes — thus providing effective support for holistic wellbeing.

Deborah Selinger: Expertise for body, mind and frequency

The Sound Bath Retreat is led by the renowned sound therapist Deborah Selinger, who specialises in the healing effects of frequencies and vibrations. Combining ancient knowledge with modern approaches to integrative health, her work is very popular with guests from all over the world. With great sensitivity, Deborah accompanies participants on a journey of inner contemplation, strengthening and deep relaxation.

An exclusive retreat in alpine surroundings

The retreat at Kempinski Palace Engelberg offers a soothing time-out experience at the highest level. It combines several coordinated sound bath sessions with Deborah Selinger, gentle movement sessions and mindfulness training — all in the luxurious setting of a five-star hotel with a state-of-the-art spa and panoramic views of the Central Swiss Alps.

Focus on longevity and prevention

With the retreat, the hotel is tapping into one of the key trends in upscale wellness tourism: the growing demand for preventative offerings that improve quality of life in the long term. «Sound bathing is not just relaxation — it is a regenerative tool that synchronises the body, mind and nervous system, thus contributing to healthy longevity», says Deborah Selinger.

About Kempinski Palace Engelberg
‘Raw Luxury’ - The new Kempinski Palace Engelberg (www.kempinski.com/engelberg) is located in the heart of the Swiss Alps, not far from Lucerne. After a good five years of construction, the magnificent building high up in the mountains was reopened in June 2021 and reinterpreted as a unique hotel from the Belle Epoque era for the next generation. In combination with nature, history and modernity, the hotel is something very special in its surroundings: as the first and only international five-star superior hotel in the largest winter and summer holiday destination in Central Switzerland, the Kempinski Palace Engelberg is a refuge for all seasons.

More than a hundred years ago, the historic building became famous far beyond the borders of Switzerland when the successful Engelberg hotelier Eduard Cattani (1841 - 1908) had it designed and realised as a hotel by his brother, the architect Arnold Cattani (1846 - 1921). It was opened in 1905 under the name Grandhotel Winterhaus and thus laid the important foundation stone for today's hotel: after intensive renovation work and in combination with the new five-storey hotel building, it now forms a complete architectural unit.

The 129 rooms and suites are equipped with state-of-the-art facilities and offer a unique view of the breathtaking mountain landscape. Culinary variety is provided by the ‘Cattani Restaurant’ with its regional and seasonal products, ‘The Palace Bar’ with the ‘Habanos Cigar Lounge’, the ‘Wintergarden’ and, in winter, the cosy Chalet Ruinart. A unique 880 m2 rooftop spa with infinity pool and views of the mountain panorama, a Kids Club and a modern event area with nine rooms and a listed Kursaal* for up to 1000 guests round off the diverse range of facilities. The hotel is easily and conveniently accessible all year round by car, train or in around 75 minutes by car from Zurich Airport.
