For over 900 years, the Benedictine monastery has shaped the history of Engelberg. As a place of silence and prayer, simple pilgrims as well as crowned heads have experienced here as a guest recreation of body, mind and soul. But the monastery is also a place where cultural treasures of more than nine centuries are kept.
Engelberg Abbey cordially invites all guests interested in immersing themselves in a contemplative atmosphere to take part in a public guided tour. Brothers of the community will give you an insight into the cultural history of the monastery and interesting facts about the Benedictine daily routine.

On the outskirts of Engelberg, you can easily reach Fürenalp by cable car. Otherwise, the adventurous can climb up to the alp via the Fürenwand via ferrata. The mountain restaurant Fürenalp with its terrace offers a breathtaking view of the Engelberg mountain world. Starting from here, you can embark on your hiking adventures, such as the crossing of the Surenen Pass or the famous Stäuber panoramic trail.
