A stunning building crafted from beautiful, white sandstone, the mosque has five minarets and a huge central dome – the surfaces of which are intricately decorated with classic geometric designs.
The Mosque also features the second-largest hand-woven carpet in the world. Taking four years to be produced, it contains 1,700,000,000 knots and weighs 21 tonnes. Another major feature of the interior design is the chandelier above the praying hall – some 14 metres tall, it was manufactured by the lauded Italian chandelier maker, Faustig.
Whether you are exploring the mosque or enjoying the surrounding gardens, the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque is a fantastic sight.
