Berchtesgaden, 06.05.2025 – Perched 1,000 meters above sea level, Kempinski Hotel Berchtesgaden is the perfect gateway to the surrounding mountain landscape. Helping guests make the most of their alpine adventures is the new Activity Concierge team, comprised of Andreas Bäumler and Mario Rechtenbach. These two local experts don’t just assist with planning excursions – they offer personalized recommendations for restaurants, arrange transfers, and know the most rewarding hiking paths, bike routes, and outdoor experiences throughout the Berchtesgaden region.
Back in 2015, Kempinski Hotel Berchtesgaden became the first property within the group to introduce the unique role of an Activity Concierge – a concept that continues to delight guests to this day. Together, Andreas Bäumler and Mario Rechtenbach craft unforgettable, active holiday moments – from daily fitness sessions and guided hikes to customdesigned experiences tailored to individual guest preferences.
“The Berchtesgaden region is incredibly diverse, with so much to discover,” says Andreas Bäumler. “We’re passionate about showing our guests the area’s hidden gems – far from the usual tourist trails. We take the time to give thoughtful, personalized advice and share true insider tips.”
Mario Rechtenbach shares that same passion for the region: “This has always been my home, and I’ve appreciated the natural beauty here since childhood. As an avid outdoor enthusiast, I spend much of my free time in the mountains – skiing, mountain biking, or climbing. I want to use those experiences to create something special for our guests. This past winter, I accompanied many of them as a ski instructor – now I look forward to guiding them through the summer season as well.”
About Andreas Bäumler
Andreas Bäumler joined Kempinski Hotel Berchtesgaden in early 2024. With a degree in industrial engineering, he brings a diverse professional background spanning industry and publishing. During extended travels through Australia, Canada, the USA, and New Zealand, he gained fresh perspectives and deepened his love for nature and exploration. In his leisure time, Andreas enjoys staying active – whether hiking, skiing, or capturing the perfect shot with his camera. As an Activity Concierge, he combines organizational skill with genuine enthusiasm for the region, curating bespoke tours with a keen eye for detail.
About Mario Rechtenbach
A native of the Berchtesgaden region, Mario Rechtenbach became part of the Concierge Team in 2025. After training as an office administrator, he served several years in the German armed forces, including in administrative roles and on international assignments. These experiences broadened his worldview and language skills. His deep roots in the region and passion for outdoor sports make him the ideal guide for active guests. Whether on a mountain bike, in fresh powder snow, or mapping out a route, Mario knows not only the trails but also the region’s best-kept secrets.
