Christoph Knichel Appointed as General Manager of Kempinski Hotel Suzhou

Suzhou, China – July 1, 2024 – Kempinski Hotel Suzhou is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Christoph Knichel as the new General Manager, effective July 1, 2024. With over 30 years of experience in the hospitality industry, Mr. Knichel will be responsible for overseeing the hotel’s operations and management, continuing the legacy of Kempinski’s century-long European service tradition, and creating unforgettable experiences for guests.

Mr. Knichel was born in Germany and is a graduate of the prestigious Glion Institute of Higher Education in Switzerland. He also holds an Executive MBA from the University of Applied Sciences HTW Chur in Switzerland and the University of Delaware in the USA. Fluent in German, English, French, and Italian, Mr. Knichel brings a truly international perspective to his role. In his leisure time, he enjoys playing tennis and skiing.

With a remarkable career that spans some of the world’s leading luxury hotel brands, Mr. Knichel has accumulated invaluable management expertise. He began his career in 1993 at the Sheraton Hotel & Conference Center Frankfurt at Frankfurt Airport in Germany. Throughout his career, he has held senior management positions at renowned international brands including Hyatt, Sheraton, Dusit, and Wanda, as well as in various hotel consulting roles. From 2005 to 2008, he served as the General Manager of Sheraton Frankfurt Hotel, where he achieved outstanding financial results. Between 2009 and 2019, Mr. Knichel’s experience took him to luxury five-star hotels across Germany, France, the Czech Republic, Thailand, and China. His expertise encompasses hotel pre-opening, operations, finance, and human resources, ensuring a well-rounded and comprehensive understanding of the hotel business.
