Getting Around Jakarta

In a city as large as Jakarta, where you stay shapes how you experience it. Bundaran HI sits at the centre of the city's rail and bus network. The MRT is a three-minute walk away, TransJakarta stops right outside, and the airport train, LRT and high-speed rail are all reachable without going near a busy road.

That means more of the city and less time sitting still. Whether you are heading to the airport, out to the neighbourhoods worth exploring.

MRT Jakarta: The Fastest Way Across the City
Bundaran HI MRT Station is three minutes from the lobby, close enough to decide on the way out rather than plan ahead. The line runs south along Jalan Sudirman through Dukuh Atas, Senayan and the SCBD area, continues to Blok M and ends at Lebak Bulus in South Jakarta. For most of what guests want to see in the centre and south of the city, it is the quickest option at any time of day.

Payment: bank-issued e-money cards (Flazz, e-Money, Brizzi, TapCash, JakCard) or a QR ticket through the MyMRTJ app.

Airport Train: Soekarno-Hatta Without the Toll Road
The airport train is the most reliable way to reach Soekarno-Hatta, particularly at peak hours, when the drive can easily double. Take the MRT one stop to Dukuh Atas BNI, then walk through to BNI City Station, where trains leave roughly every 30 minutes and reach the airport in around 40 minutes. At the airport, the free Skytrain connects the station to every terminal. Services are slightly less frequent at weekends, so check the timetable before you travel.

LRT Jabodebek: Elevated Rail to the East
The LRT is Jakarta's elevated light rail, running from Dukuh Atas out to East Jakarta and on to Bekasi and Cibubur. Its Dukuh Atas station is a short walk from the MRT, and its Halim station connects directly with Whoosh, making it the traffic-free way to reach Bandung.

Payment: cashless, using a bank-issued e-money card.

Whoosh: Bandung in Under an Hour
Whoosh, Indonesia's high-speed railway, links Jakarta and Bandung in around 45 minutes, turning a city that once needed a full day into an easy day trip. Trains leave Halim Station in East Jakarta roughly every 30 minutes, with the first departure at 6:25am and the last at 9:25pm. Halim is around 35 minutes by car, or you can avoid the roads entirely by taking the MRT to Dukuh Atas and the LRT to Halim.

Tickets: Whoosh app, ticket.kcic.co.id, or Traveloka and Tiket.com. Book ahead at weekends and on public holidays, when trains fill quickly.

Bluebird Taxi, GrabCar and GoCar: Ride-Hailing Door to Door
For most visitors, ride-hailing is the default way to get around Jakarta, and both Grab and Gojek work much as they do elsewhere in Southeast Asia. Set your pick-up to the hotel lobby, pay by card in the app, and choose between cars, larger vehicles for groups and luggage. Blue Bird, Jakarta's most established taxi company, can be booked through its own app or through Gojek.

For late nights, airport runs with luggage, or destinations the rail network does not reach, ride-hailing fills every gap.
