Kempinski Hotel Grand Arena Bansko Is the Official Host of the 2025 World Snowboard Cup
Bansko, 20 January 2025: Bulgaria’s best winter resort had the honour of hosting the start of the Snowboard World Cup for the fourth time. The captivating FIS Snowboard World Cup ignited Bansko, Bulgaria, from January 18th to 19th, 2025, allowing 135 snowboarders from 19 countries to compete fiercely.
Bulgarian athletes delivered exceptional performances, bringing excitement to the home crowd. Tervel Zamfirov, a young talent, secured a career-best fourth-place finish in the men's parallel giant slalom on day one. Radoslav Yankov, Bulgaria's most established snowboarder, achieved a well-deserved third place on Sunday, thrilling spectators. Malena Zamfirova, Tervel's sister, marked her debut among the top female snowboarders, gaining valuable experience for future competitions. Germany's Ramona Theresia Hofmeister dominated the women's competition, securing two consecutive victories. In the men's category, victories went to Austria's Andreas Prommegger on Saturday and Switzerland's Dario Caviezel on Sunday. The festive atmosphere culminated in an award ceremony on Saturday, where Tourism Minister Miroslav Borshosh presented awards to the top athletes. The following day's ceremony saw Bansko Mayor Stoycho Banenski and Bulgarian Olympic Committee President Stefka Kostadinova honoring the champions. Officially opening the competition on Friday evening, Youth and Sports Minister Ivan Peshev highlighted the event's significance: "This establishes Bulgaria as a leading winter sports destination in Europe...thanks to the Bulgarian Ski Federation's efforts in recent years, Bulgaria has hosted dozens of World Cup rounds in alpine skiing and snowboarding."
