Kempinski Hotel Grand Arena Bansko Supports Fourteenth Edition of Bansko Opera Fest

Bansko, 29 August 2023 – This past weekend, Bansko was host to the fourteenth edition of the Bansko Opera Fest. The festival opened with a brilliant performance of the comedy opera “The Barber of Seville” on Friday, represented by State Opera Varna under the perfect direction of conductor Svetoslav Borisov. The production brought together some of the greatest stars of Bulgarian Opera – soprano Ilina Mihailova as Rozina, Ventseslav Anastasov as Figaro, Georgi Sultanov as Graf Almaviva and Deyan Vachkov as Don Basilio.

On Saturday at 10:30 in the morning, the children's vocal and theatre formation "Talasamche" presented the spectacle "The Three Fairies and the Sleeping Beauty" to the youngest lovers of beautiful music. In the evening, the visitors enjoyed the musical “Bodyguard,” famous for its stunning choreography, glamorous costumes, impressive scenography and the original orchestration of Whitney Houston’s hits. A special guest of the festival were the favourite Bulgarian pop and opera singer Orlin Goranov, invited in the role of Frank Farmer and the English musical and film actress Manal El Feituri in the role of Rachel Marron.

Bansko Opera Fest took place under the open summer sky at the main town square. Entrance, as usual, was free of charge for the audience, thanks to event sponsors and organisers, Bansko Municipality, Kempinski Hotel Grand Arena Bansko and Monte Music Agency.

The recently appointed general manager of Kempinski Hotel Grand Arena Bansko, Mr. Rene Detzen, commented, “I am a newcomer to the city and for the first time I saw the beautiful opera performances during Bansko Opera Fest, and I was really impressed. The festival is a wonderful cultural event from the rich summer events calendar of the resort, which for sure helps with the popularisation of Bansko as a year-round tourist destination.”
