In summer Bansko offers different sports attractions for a healthy experience in the fresh mountain air.
BANDERISHKA POLYANA
At Bunderishka Polyana a small entertainment complex is waiting for you including a shooting range, mini football, mini golf, a human fussball game and a 400-metre water slide – the longest one in Europe. To reach the spot you may take the mountain road or take advantage of the Gondola, which is situated right next to the hotel.
BAYKUSHEV’S PINE
The oldest coniferous tree in Bulgaria is situated in the Pirin Mountains. It is approximately 1,300 years old. Baikushev's Pine is named after Mr. Kostadin Baikushev, the forester who discovered it. Don’t miss out on visiting this famous natural landmark during your stay at Kempinski Hotel Grand Arena Bansko.
LAKE “OKOTO”
There are 186 lakes in the Pirin Mountains, and Lake “Okoto” (The Eye) is one of the most impressive. It is the closest lake to the hotel and is relatively easy to access thanks to a mountain road. This glacial lake has its deepest point at an impressive 5.4 m. Lake “Okoto” provides ideal conditions for a summer picnic outing from Kempinski Hotel Grand Arena Bansko.
RILA MONASTERY
Founded in the first half of 10 c. by the heavenly protector of the Bulgarians Saint John of Rila, the monastery is a cradle, a pillar and a repository of the Bulgarian spirit even today. The Rila Monastery is a monument of culture under the auspices of UNESCO and is the largest monastery complex on the Balkan Peninsula.
BELITSA & THE BEAR SANCTUARY
The beautiful town of Belitsa is situated 20 km away from Bansko. The bear sanctuary provides a second chance and lifelong care to rescued brown bears and is a cooperation project between the FONDATION BRIGITTE BARDOT and FOUR PAWS. Most of the bears in this sanctuary were former 'dancing bears' from Bulgaria, as well as some from Serbia and Albania. In addition to them, bears from other various forms of poor captivity have also found a lifelong home here. Please note that the sanctuary is closed for visitors from December until April, because most of the bears hibernate during winter.
