DR RESTAURANT & BAR Unveils New Craft Beers at Exclusive Tasting Event

Chengdu, China – An exclusive tasting event for new craft beers was held at the DR RESTAURANT & BAR at Kempinski Hotel Chengdu. The event was organized to introduce the latest creations from the hotel's talented brewing team. Esteemed hotel guests and experts from the beer brewing association gathered to witness the masterpieces of the newly appointed Head Brewmaster, Mr. Yang Dijun, and to embark on a sensory journey of freshly brewed beer.

Mr. Yang Dijun is a renowned figure in the craft beer industry, whose creations have repeatedly won the national championship at the prestigious CCBA (China Craft Beer Awards). For this event, he personally presented two meticulously crafted new beers:

  • Classic German Hefeweizen: With an original gravity of 12.0%, an ABV of ≥4.2%, and an IBU of 11, this beer style originates from the Bavaria region of Germany and is one of the country's most popular. It captivates the senses with its signature rich aroma of cloves and fruit intertwined with wheat notes. 6 The beer features a rich, long-lasting head and a full-bodied, smooth mouthfeel, leading to a long and beautiful finish. 7 As an unfiltered beer, it contains yeast and protein, giving it a naturally cloudy appearance, which is why it is also known as a "white beer."
  • Munich Lager: This classic beer has an original gravity of 11.6%, an ABV of ≥4.5%, and an IBU of 15. The refreshing aroma from the hops perfectly complements the mellow malt foundation, showcasing the art of balance. It is smooth, easy-drinking, and offers a clean, crisp, and refreshing taste. The Munich Lager represents the essence of German beer culture, creating a harmonious symphony of malt and hops from simple ingredients (water, malt, hops, yeast) and rigorous craftsmanship. For those seeking an authentic German lager experience, it is truly the "gold standard" for the palate.

To ensure every guest enjoyed the perfect harmony of beer and cuisine, the DR RESTAURANT & BAR team expertly curated a menu of representative dishes to accompany the two new brews. The aromatic, freshly-carved Spanish ham released its unique fragrance of acorns and salt, while the hearty German crispy pork knuckle featured golden, crackling skin over tender, succulent meat, creating a powerful collision of flavors. The delightful selection of dishes, enhanced by the bright effervescence of the refreshing beers, successfully delighted the palate of every guest, elevating the tasting into a memorable journey of gastronomic exploration.

The success of this event demonstrates Kempinski Hotel Chengdu's relentless pursuit of culinary innovation and offers a new, high-quality taste experience for the gourmands of Chengdu. Both German-style craft beers are now officially available, and all guests are cordially invited for a tasting.
