It is a tradition that presidents of the Czech and Slovak Republic start their first and finish their last official visit in each other's country. The serving Czech President Miloš Zeman chose the High Tatra mountains and Grand Hotel Kempinski High Tatras as the place of his farewell visit to Slovakia.
The President Miloš Zeman arrived at Poprad airport on Monday afternoon 6th February 2023 where Slovak President, Zuzana Čaputová, welcomed him and his delegation.
After arriving at Štrbské Pleso, the president told the media that she was very happy that the Czech president chose the High Tatras for his farewell. She described them as "a beautiful and exceptional place that both Czechs and Slovaks love so much".
They had an unofficial dinner together with their partners and an official program of the visit began on Tuesday morning 7th February, with a welcoming ceremony with military honors in front of the Grand Hotel Kempinski High Tatras.
Followed the talks between the Slovak and Czech heads of state as well as the talks with the national delegations. It was the thirteenth meeting within the framework of cooperation in their functions.
The President Zeman's visit to Štrbské Pleso lasted for three days. During his stay, he also met with Slovak ex-Presidents Rudolf Schuster and Andrej Kiska, as well as with former Prime Minister Peter Pellegrini and interim Premier Eduard Heger.
We are very pleased and honored that we could host such an important occasion and welcome the Czech and Slovak Presidents in High Tatras.
