Štrbské Pleso – Visitors to the High Tatras have a unique opportunity to view the works of renowned Swiss artists Daniele and Boris Dondé. The "Klimt Gold Pop Art" exhibition, hosted at the Grand Hotel Kempinski High Tatras from 16 January to 27 February, seamlessly blends exceptional artistry with the exclusive surroundings of Štrbské Pleso.
"Our goal is to continually offer our guests something new and captivating during their stay. We are delighted to present an exhibition by such esteemed artists again this year. Beyond simply viewing these original works, guests also have the opportunity to purchase them," says Kathrin Noll, General Manager of Grand Hotel Kempinski High Tatras. She also notes that the exhibition is open to non-residents.
The exhibition's centrepiece is a work inspired by Gustav Klimt, created by Daniele Dondé in 2010. The iconic Tree of Life (L’Albero della vita) remains one of the most striking and visually arresting exhibits in the entire collection.
The showcase, featuring approximately 60 pieces, also includes works by Daniele’s nephew, Boris Dondé, who has established himself as a prominent figure in contemporary art. His mosaic of Marilyn Monroe, measuring 100 x 150 cm, is the collection's most valuable piece, priced at approximately €6,000. This work was recently featured at the Italian Film Festival in Monte Carlo.
Boris Dondé explained the inspiration behind their joint exhibition: "The idea came to life in October 2025. During a visit to Daniele’s former studio, I was struck by the sheer volume and quality of his work. I encouraged him to share these exceptional pieces with the public," he revealed.
Grand Hotel Kempinski High Tatras is no stranger to the Dondé family's artistry. In early 2024, the hotel hosted their Cash Revolution collection, which explored themes of currency and pop-culture icons. These canvas works utilize special visual effects to capture the essence of cultural symbols, prompting viewers to reflect on the intersection of wealth and popular culture.
The works of Boris and Daniele Dondé are featured in both permanent and temporary exhibitions worldwide. Their international prestige and artistic merit have been confirmed by showcases in major European hubs, including Monte Carlo, Zurich, and Basel.
