Enjoy High Tatras this summer

Take a short walk, climb majestic peaks or choose from a variety of activities in the vicinity and enjoy the mountains in your own way. But don’t forget to taste local specialities and relax in our hotel spa

The High Tatras offer many easy and short walks ideal for families with children, such as around the tarns Strbske pleso and Nove Strbske pleso, to the so-called Lakes of love or to the tarn Popradske pleso.

Discovering more than 300 species of Tatra plants and trees in the botanical garden in Tatranska Lomnica is also an enjoyable activity. The exposition of the Tatra nature stretches over an area of 3.2 hectares (7.9 acres) and is open from late May to mid-September.

However, the High Tatras are also suitable for surmounting high peaks and even peaks only accessible in the company of a professional mountain guide. Don’t forget to download the Mountain Rescue Service mobile app, which can call assistance in case of emergency, arrange insurance and offer weather updates and warnings. Mt Lomnicky stit is accessible comfortably thanks to an iconic red gondola lift. The highest-located Slovak café there serves delicious coffee along with breathtaking views.

Boating on lake Strbske pleso has been a popular summer activity for over 130 years. And if you feel like taking a trip with your family, try wooden rafting tours on the Dunajec river.

Unsure about cycling in the mountains? Rent an electric bike at our reception. The motor will help you get further and higher when compared to a regular bike. There are more than 300 kilometres of marked cycling routes in the High Tatras, and we recommend the one running to Podbanske.

Even experienced golfers who travel worldwide to play golf are fascinated by the views of our mountains from the Black Stork golf resort in Velka Lomnica. There are 27 holes, but also practice areas where you can learn to play. Professional coaches are at your disposal as well, of course.

When one needs to cool down on hot summer days, a tour of nearby caves might feel refreshing. Belianska jaskyna is the only open cave in the High Tatras and contains various astonishing rock formations. Vazecka jaskyna is located near Strbske Pleso. Although a bit shorter, it is known for beautiful dripstones as well as cave bear bones that were found there.

Watching bears in their natural habitat is undoubtedly the top experience in the region. A skilled guide will take you to a location in the Tatra National Park where there is a high probability of spotting a brown bear. And if you’re lucky, you might also catch sight of a fox, a deer or a Tatra chamois.

Please don’t hesitate to approach our concierge in person, at the hotel reception, or to dial extension 5 on your hotel phone for further information.

Get inspired by our suggestions and discover the beautiful nature of the Tatras in the summer!
