Frank Veenstra

As Chief Development Officer of Kempinski Hotels, Frank Veenstra leads the company’s global development strategy, with a focus on expanding its footprint in the ultra-luxury segment. He is responsible for identifying strategic investment opportunities, steering continued growth through management agreements, and building a strong development team to ensure long-term success. His leadership plays a central role in shaping the next chapter of Kempinski’s portfolio.

Frank brings more than 30 years of experience in hospitality investment, development, asset management, and strategic expansion. Most recently, he served as interim Chief Development Officer and Senior Advisor to the Board at Corinthia Hotels. Prior to that, he was Deputy Head of Global Hospitality at the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority (ADIA), where he developed and executed the hospitality investment strategy, led a global team of hotel investment professionals, and oversaw the asset management of an international portfolio of hotel real estate as part of the organisation’s broader real estate platform. Earlier in his career, Frank led mergers, acquisitions, and asset management across Europe, Africa, and Latin America for NH Hotels Group. 

Alongside his executive roles, Frank is the founder of Mainstay Hospitality, an advisory firm focused on hotel real estate strategy. He is also a visiting lecturer at Breda University of Applied Sciences sharing his expertise on hospitality investment, asset management, and finance. He also serves on the Board of Directors at Scandic Hotels Group, where he is a member of the investment and audit committees.

A Dutch national, Frank holds a bachelor’s degree in Hotel Administration with a specialisation in Finance from Hoge Hotelschool Maastricht, and a postgraduate degree as a Qualified Controller from Hofam. He completed the Advanced Board Programme from Columbia Business School in 2024. He is fluent in Dutch, English, and Spanish, and proficient in German and French.
