Stimorol Engadinsnow is one of the world’s most prestigious events in the freeride scene, with prize-money totalling 20,000 ‘alpine dollars’.

 

It goes without saying that this trial of courage is one of the most highly regarded in the international freeride scene, and drives some 14 world-class freeskiers and snowboarders to perform spectacular jumps. Besides the freeride event, the snowboarding cracks demonstrate their prowess at the Big Air contest.

Together with the top chefs from St. Moritz’s leading hotels, international star chefs from three continents will be pampering the palates of its gourmet guests.

The annual White Turf event, a tradition dating back to 1907, is no longer ‘merely’ a horse-racing meeting. It stands for thundering horses hooves on spraying snow. Thrilling flat and trotting races, complete with betting offices. Courageous men and intrepid women on skis pulled along at high speed by unmounted horses at the only skijoring race in the world. A veritable feast for all the senses and a social highlight of the season.

The exhibition of the new still life photographs from the serie "Earth Laughs in Flowers" was shown in spring 2011 in the Kestnergesellschaft Hannover.

LaChapelle shows an explicit compositional affinity to Baroque floral still life, but he transfers the genre from painting to photography. The artist uses these art historical visual traditions, but he also translates them into our time.

 

The viewer will discover on the second glance objects of the modern society in the blooming and fading flower arrangement for example burning cigarettes, newspapers from yesterday, old mobile phones, plastic.

What in winter 1988 was considered to be the crazy idea of a group of Englishmen and pupils of the Swiss international boarding school, the Lyceum Alpinum Zuoz, has over the years firmly established itself on the St. Moritz calendar of events.

There is an enchanted feel in the air, created by the spectacular Engadin mountains, superb figure skaters on the ice, and a world-class music star on the stage.

 The atmosphere at this event, held one week before the famous Engadin Ski Marathon, is particularly friendly.

 

The best way to prepare for this race is to train on the 180 km (112 mile) network of perfectly groomed cross-country skiing trails in the Upper Engadin.

 

Not only are the conditions perfect, but also the innumerable romantic side valleys make it an extremely beautiful experience. The regularly maintained trails are ideal for both the classical and the skating styles of skiing.

The Engadin Ski Marathon has been held on the second Sunday in March every year since 1969.

The St. Moritz Award is the first of its kind to honour international celebrities who use the privileges they enjoy through their personal fame for the good of others, by making a significant contribution in the area of charity and humanitarian aid.

The St. Moritz Award is presented every year in St. Moritz, at a gala ceremony in the evening. This international accolade was awarded for the very first time in 2010.
