Kempinski Hotel Cathedral Square Contributes to the Dissemination of Lithuanian Art (1)
“I am very glad that I was invited to present my artwork at this modern and original hotel. Nowadays, art has to be exhibited not only in the traditional places, such as art galleries; it also has to be available to a wide range of audiences. I am glad that Kempinski management has developed an honourable tradition of patronage of the arts. This dynamic hotel environment is the perfect venue to develop a dialog with art and encourage interest in it”, said Audrius Gražys.
This initiative is part of a project known as Arts Month 2013, created by Kempinski hotels in Central Europe. Between March and September, hotels in several countries will present exhibitions of local artists and show the best modern paintings, sculpture and philosophers and their works. The project will provide a connection between the well-known cultural heritages of European capitals such as Bratislava, Budapest, Sofia and Prague.
The guests of Kempinski Hotel Cathedral Square will be able to see paintings by Audrius Gražys every day from 9:00 until 17:00 at the hotel‘s conference centre. Those searching for distinctive paintings will have the opportunity to make a purchase should they desire.
"Arts and culture are a necessity, not an accessory. Our arts and cultural heritage was born in Europe, where beauty, creativity, art and ideas are celebrated, and have shaped the rich culture we have today. We are proud that in our hotel, Kempinski Hotel Cathedral Square, we are able to show the works of such a prominent local artist as Audrius Gražys, which is an important part of our quest to showcase local artists and their work on an international stage. It helps as well to strengthen our hotel’s role in the local community while enhancing the guest experience by giving them a sense of and feel for the city. Our ties with local artists, which will continue in the future as we display different forms of local art, shows our commitment to the community and our efforts to of local artists and cultural dialogue”, says General Manager Noel Attard.
Audrius Gražys is one of the most interesting and brightest Lithuanian painters right now. His paintings reflect a distinctive style of expression, intensive emotion and resourceful techniques. The painter also has a distinctive feature – his famed sharp brush stroke. Experts describe his paintings as having multiple layers; they are poetic, reflecting constantly changing minds and radiant energy while resembling Hindu mandalas.
Audrius Gražys has organised more than twenty individual exhibitions. His works have been displayed in more than fifty group exhibitions in famous art galleries in Lithuania, Denmark, Finland, Brazil, Germany, Portugal, Belgium, USA, Great Britain and the UAE.
In 2003, the president of Portugal, Jorge Sampio, recognised Audrius Gražys with the honour of membership in the Portuguese Order of Merit. The artist has also obtained various awards at international painting symposiums and triennials.
The luxurious hotel chain supports the idea that the arts are reflective of European culture, and that idea remains one of the company’s most important values.
