To enhance your experience in Vilnius, borrow our Kempinski bicycles.
Grab one of the Kempinski bikes and embark on a journey to the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Old Town. With over two thousand beautifully preserved medieval, gothic, renaissance and baroque buildings located in the cosy labyrinth, Vilnius Old Town is a fascinating visual library of the greatest European architectural styles, and its easily accessible by both Segway and bike. Take a ride in the labyrinth of small, narrow streets, particularly the Big Ghetto, and have a closer look at the ensemble of St Anne and Bernardine Church – a masterpiece of the late Gothic period. Then take a ride to Vilnius University – one of the oldest in Eastern Europe built in the 16th century. You can stop shortly in one of the 13 courtyards or admire colourful panoramic views of the Old Town of Vilnius from the campanile of St John’s Church, the highest building in the Old Town.
While touring the city, you should not miss the picturesque, hip Užupis quarter – a mini-republic in Vilnius where artists rule, cats have constitutional rights and the Dalai Lama is an honorary citizen. Since Užupis declared itself to be an independent republic on April Fool’s Day (1 April), it has its own constitution, president anthem and army of 11 men. It is a place of inspirational and free thought. Out of 7,000 inhabitants, 1,000 of them are artists. Guests of Užupis will definitely find themselves relaxed. Take a break from your ride to stop in one of the bohemian cafés or small boutique galleries. As Grand Hotel Kempinski Vilnius is in the heart of Vilnius Old Town in Cathedral Square, you will find yourself stone a stone’s throw away from all the landmarks.
