On 30 July 2016 is an Edouard Manet exhibition entitled “Olympia”. “Theme and Variations” from the series “Masterpieces from World Museums in the Hermitage” opens in the General Staff Building.
The exhibition is organised by the State Hermitage and Musée d'Orsay, Paris, with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Culture of the French Republic.
“Olympia”, the most famous painting of Edouard Manet, very rarely leaves the Musée d'Orsay. The Hermitage exhibits it in a broad historical context: “Olympia” is accompanied by works from the Hermitage collection that allows you to explore the image of the depiction of a nude woman throughout the Renaissance, Baroque and modern art.
