Set up in 2009, in the year of the 100-year anniversary of “Russian Seasons” by Sergey Diaghilev in the city of St Petersburg, which gave the impulse to the all-time impresario of the 20th century, the International Festival of Arts Diaghilev P.S., through the eight years of its history, has become one of the greatest cultural events in Russia. The festival’s mission is to contribute creative and cultural exchanges between Russia and other parts of the world, to represent the most remarkable and innovative performances and other events in different art categories, and to provide an opening for new talents. As part of the festival in previous years, being organized the guest tours of Bolshoi Theatre of Russia, the John Neumann troupe and the Perm Opera and Ballet Theatre orchestra, directed by Teodor Currentzis.
Initiated exhibitions, festivals in Hermitage, the Russian Museum, the Ethnographic Museum and the Museum of Theatre and Musical Art acquainted St Petersburg citizens with masterpieces from the world’s main museum collections. “Style on the stage. The art of elegancy” exhibition, which took place in 2013, was declared as the best exhibition of the year with the honorary prize “Museum Olymp”.
In 2017, the festival’s organisers have promised a traditional, wide-ranging programme of exhibitions and performances, including the ballet of Wayne McGregor “AutoBIOgraphy” and the mysterious performance “Coco Chanel” by Norwegian choreographer Jo Strømgren.
The festival will take place from 22 November till 1 December 2017 on the stages of Bolshoi Dramatic Theater, Alexandrinsky Theatre and the Main Hall of St Petersburg Philarmony.
