Schwarzreiter Tagesbar & Restaurant

Munich, February 25th, 2015 – Besides the famous Oktoberfest Munich now offers its visitors another Bavarian highlight: Schwarzreiter Tagesbar & Restaurant. Similar to the famous Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten Kempinski guests also find royal Bavarian flair at Schwarzreiter. The new concept was inspired by the Bavarian King Ludwig II, who was the son of King Maximilian II, the founder of Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten Kempinski Munich. Ludwig II is known as an absolute gourmand, bon vivant and culinary pioneer. What would he eat today? And where would he eat? Of course, in a hot spot directly on Maximilian Street in Munich – just like Schwarzreiter Tagesbar & Restaurant, which opened on February 24th, enriching the gastronomic scene of Munich.

Besides the new interior design of the former hotel restaurant Vue Maximilian in bright and friendly colours guests enjoy the novel gastronomic concept, young Bavarian cuisine, in a casual and open, but also elegant, atmosphere. The main focus is on the products in their ultimate simplicity with culinary refinement. "We wanted to create something new," explains Axel Ludwig, general manager of Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten Kempinski Munich. "Glamour and lightness combined with good food and drinks make popular places most fascinating, just like in the era of King Ludwig. And we have used this recipe as a model for our Scharzreiter."

Directly from Maximilian Street, there is a private entrance into the Schwarzreiter, the former restaurant Vue Maximilian. This is the new place to be for fans of good food and drinks. The name “Schwarzreiter” originates from a smoked char from deep Alpine lakes, which is also known as one of the favorite dishes of King Ludwig. From now on, the daily hot spot will be Schwarzreiter with an exclusive view directly to the hustle and bustle of Maximilian Street. Whether you choose a wild herb salad, tartar of Bavarian oxn, Schwarzreiter or a really good piece of grilled meat, people meet here for casual business lunches as well as to linger and socialise with friends over good food or just a cappuccino or a glass of champagne after a day of shopping. Schwarzreiter Restaurant, which is open from Tuesday to Saturday evening, offers the finest Bavarian cuisine that is seasonal, fresh and modern. It is far from traditional Bavarian dishes like sauerkraut and sausages, but still inspired by traditional dishes.

The head of the motivated kitchen crew is Christian Michel, who joined the team in April last year. Christian Michel was educated at Hotel Barreis in the Black Forest and honed his skills under the guidance of three Michelin stared chef Dieter Müller. "We are deeply immersed in the traditions of Bavarian cuisine and distilled it until we reached the result of fresh, contemporary and young Bavarian cuisine," said the chef. "Easy, tasty and surprisingly apart from what we know and expect." Schwarzreiter Restaurant offers two continuously changing menus with four or six courses, offering an intense gastronomic journey through Bavarian cuisine. Of course, individual courses may be ordered as well.

Restaurant Manager Andrej Grunert and his team take care of guest satisfaction at Schwarzreiter, both in the Tagesbar and Restaurant.
