Built for King Maximilian II and designed by the well-known city architect Friedrich Bürklein, luxury brands are drawn to Maximilianstraße.

For guests of Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten Kempinski, the shops on Maximilianstraße are easy to reach. Directly opposite is Cartier, while next door you will find BVLGARI. Just a few seconds away lies Ralph Lauren and Yves Saint Laurent too, alongside renowned jewellery brands like Rolex and Tiffany & Co. All the well-known luxury brands are based here - the most expensive promenade in Germany - so you are sure to find what you’re looking for.

For culture and art lovers, the Maximilianstraße has plenty to offer. The street reflects several architectural styles and enjoys a wide range of entertainment, from the National Theatre to various art museums and galleries.

City-Quartier Fünf Höfe – A Playground for Stylish Buyers

  • Perfect for luxury shopping on rainy days
  • Unique blend of lifestyle, fashion and art
  • Stunning modern architecture

The Fünf Höfe opened in 2004, after the renovation of an old building belonging to Hypovereinsbank. Today, you will find a visually interesting shopping complex that’s home to a variety of shops, cafes and fine restaurants. There are plenty of places to relax here too, with temporary art exhibitions located inside in the Hypo-Kunsthalle. Discover more below:

Hypo-Kunsthalle: There is more than just art to admire here, including the project RE-ACT! which makes it possible for visitors to view the current exhibitions in a club-like atmosphere. Concerts and after-work parties are also held in the Kunsthalle.

Art installations in the courtyards: The courtyards are transformed with art, with two of the most notable being the Salvator Passage which brings nature indoors, and the Sphere designed by Ólafur Elíasson which can be found in the middle of Viscardihofes.

Gift ideas for everyone: Whoever you are buying a present for, you are sure to find the perfect item here. Two of the oldest shops are Diehl and Schreibmayr, specialising in stylish writing and leather accessories. If you are looking for something more modern, try MAGAZIN which has everything from furniture to stylish luggage and clothing.

Fashion: In terms of fashion, Fünf Höfe offers space for newer luxury brands to showcase their goods. You will find a range of interesting designers here, from the Japanese fashion house MUJI and jewellers CADA to better known brands like Longchamp, Max Mara and Karl Lagerfeld.

Oberpollinger – Luxurious department store packed with history

  • One of the oldest luxury department stores in Munich
  • Five floors of fashion, cosmetics and homeware
  • 15-minute walk from Hotel Vier Kempinski Jahreszeiten

The largest department store in southern Germany, Oberpollinger is home to high-end designer stores from around the globe. Based within a listed building from the Neo-Renaissance era, it is a wonderful place to go shopping any time of the year.

Shoppers will find a wide range of fashion brands, perfumeries and household goods across five floors. From Gucci and Miu Miu to Prada, there is a wide selection of premium stores to explore. The fifth floor also enjoys a roof terrace with a restaurant, making Oberpollinger a brilliant place to relax after a long day exploring Munich.

Ludwig Beck – The Store of the Senses

  • Unique department store
  • Personal shoppers available
  • Seven floors to browse

It is not surprising that the Ludwig Beck department store also calls itself ‘the store of the senses’. There’s so much to smell, hear, taste and see here - shopaholics will love all seven floors.

The Ludwig Beck department store has a lot to offer when it comes to fashion, from fine evening wear over traditional costumes and lederhosen, to conventional and trendy fashion for men and women. Many famous fashion houses have stores here, including Strenesse, Hugo Boss and Marc Cain.

Cosmetics and Perfumery
The department store offers a special selection of fragrances and cosmetics from international brands such as Le Labo, Serge Lutens and the in-house brand Ludwig Beck, which you won’t find anywhere else.

Extravagant and unique
There are many one-of-a-kind stores in Ludwig Beck, such as Lakrids. A specialty shop by Danish liquorice specialist Johan Bülow, it is an absolute must if you love liquorice, and the beautifully packaged liquorice balls make perfect gifts too.
GRACE Flowerbox resides here too. Now a nationwide pop-up store that established itself as a start-up in the famous TV series "The Cave of the Lions", the flower shop is almost unique, with only one other store existing in Hamburg. Roses here are truly special, placed in a box and enjoying a lifespan of up to three years.

If you are unsure about the variety of products and services offered at Ludwig Beck, or need advice for a specific occasion, we recommend hiring a personal shopper via the Ludwig Beck department store.

Ingolstadt Village – Designer fashion at affordable prices
