Kempinski focuses on "Small is beautiful"
Geneva/Berlin, March 7, 2017 – Kempinski will open five new hotels in 2017 in destinations including Havana, Cuba; Riga, Latvia; Guangzhou, China; Palm Jumeirah, Dubai; and Muscat, Oman. “Our aim is to grow and we will grow, with deliberation and in line with our long-term value strategy,” says Markus Semer, Chairman of the Management Board and CEO of Kempinski Hotels. “From the very beginning, we have been a pioneering European luxury hotel group and we are pioneering again this year.” In Havana, Kempinski introduces the first five-star luxury European-style hotel, the Gran Hotel Manzana Kempinski and in Riga, the group innovates again with the Grand Hotel Kempinski Riga, the first international five-star luxury hotel in Latvia.

Gran Hotel Manzana Kempinski La Habana, Havana/Cuba

With the Gran Hotel Manzana Kempinski La Habana, Kempinski will open its first hotel in Cuba in the second quarter of this year. This new luxury hotel located in the heart of Havana’s most historic area, next to the city’s most interesting sights, is destined to become the place to be in Cuba’s capital: Guests can choose from 246 luxurious rooms and suites, ranging in size from 40 square metres to the stunning presidential suite of 150 square metres – all with ceilings of four to five metres. The rooftop terrace and swimming pool, with views over the old town, are just some of the many highlights. There will be a spa managed by Resense, which offers guests more than 1,000 square metres of pure relaxation, together with a choice of three restaurants, a lobby bar, cigar lounge, and a business centre makes sure guests have everything they need for a truly memorable stay.
Grand Hotel Kempinski Riga, Riga/Latvia

Another highlight of the Kempinski portfolio will open its doors in the centre of Latvia’s capital. Originally built in the 19th century, the Grand Hotel Kempinski Riga provides 141 luxurious rooms and suites: it is the first Kempinski hotel in Latvia, as well as the first international five-star luxury hotel in the market. Just opposite the National Opera House and by the entrance to the town’s historic centre, which belongs to UNESCO World Heritage, the main tourist attractions, galleries and boutiques are all within walking distance. An all-day dining and rooftop restaurant with terrace overlooking the Opera and adjacent park, as well as bar and cigar lounge cater to guests’ needs. They can relax and indulge at the Kempinski The Spa, featuring six treatment rooms, an authentic hamam, swimming pool, and fitness centre. For events and business meetings the hotel offers a ballroom for up to 300 guests and five meeting rooms with natural daylight.
Kempinski Residences Guangzhou, Guangzhou/China

With the Kempinski Residences Guangzhou in Guangzhou, capital of the economic powerhouse Guangdong province in the south of China, Kempinski once again sets a new standard in the area of luxury residences. The newly built skyscraper is centrally located within the Yue Xiu district, the social and historical centre of Guangzhou, with neighbouring cultural sites such as the Huang Hua Gang Park and Guangzhou Martyr Memorial Park. Covering a total of 40,000 square metres, this 23-floor landmark tower features 261 rooms and suites offering excellent long-stay opportunities. Emerald Palace Kempinski Palm Jumeirah Dubai, Dubai/United Arab Emirates

With its opening scheduled for end of this year, this legendary European Palace in Dubai will complement the Kempinski Hotel & Residences Palm Jumeirah, opened in 2011. The outstanding palace hotel will feature 389 rooms and suites. Rooms start at a size of 67 square metres and are thus the largest rooms in this category on the Palm. In addition, the Emerald Palace stands out due to the largest indoor swimming pool, with 175 square metres, as well as the largest private cinema on Palm Jumeirah with a capacity of 80 seats.
