On the Move against Tuberculosis
Hotel organizes a series of initiatives to raise awareness on World Tuberculosis Day
Dubai, March 27, 2011: Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates dedicated March 24 to spreading awareness on tuberculosis, with various initiatives educating staff members and guests about the highly infectious disease.
As part of a broader Kempinski Corporate campaign, run in partnership with the Stop TB Partnership, properties around the world supported the cause with individually organized awareness events for the third consecutive year.
At Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates, the tennis court was turned into a living canvas as staff gathered to shape the word’s STOP TB on Thursday morning. Team members were furthermore sensitized on the importance of raising awareness about TB – one of the worldwide most deadly infectious diseases – with a video presentation and a lecture from a doctor from Jebel Ali Hospital. The day’s initiatives closed with the Kempinski choir joining for a sing-along with the hotel’s HR staff and the cutting of a specially prepared Stop TB cake.
The Stop TB campaign’s objectives featured on welcome screens across the hotel, thus enabling the message to be spread among hotel guests in addition to staff members.
“This CSR campaign is important to us as a property and as a company. TB is a disease that continues to take lives in many countries in which Kempinski operates, with new cases continuing to be diagnosed all over the world every day. With more than two billion people infected, we consider it our duty to educate as many people as possible on the ways in which this disease can be prevented and the steps that enable its cure,” said Alejandro Bernabé, General Manager at Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates.
