Marsa Malaz Kempinski wins three awards at the prestigious 2016 Food & Travel GCC Awards
Marsa Malaz Kempinski has been selected as the GCC’s Best Resort Hotel, while El Faro has been selected as the Best Spanish Restaurant, and Antica Pesa is recognised as the Best Newcomer Restaurant. All the awards are significant achievements, considering the hotel has been open for just over one year and that the nominees were many elite restaurants and hotels spread across the GCC.
The ceremony took place in Bahrain on 29 February, under the patronage of H.E. Mr Zayed R. Alzayani, Bahrain’s Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, and was attended by Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority Acting Chief Executive Shaikh Khalid bin Hamoud Al Khalifa, diplomats and more than 120 hospitality leaders and other guests.
The Food & Travel Awards are highlighting the excellence of the region’s hotels and restaurants. The initial call for nominations was sent out in February last year, with the winners selected by a team from Food & Travel, along with expert panellists, who also incorporated public opinion by way of over 263,000 votes. The hotel has also won the Qatar awards for the Best Resort Hotel, the Best Middle Eastern Restaurant for Al Sufra and the Best Italian Restaurant for Antica Pesa.
Wissam Suleiman, General Manager of Marsa Malaz Kempinski, The Pearl – Doha, said: "We are honoured to be recognised by such a prestigious publication as the Food & Travel Arabia magazine. Our management team and staff have contributed significantly to the hotel’s accomplishments since the opening, and we are all very appreciative of the support from our valued guests."
