Panda Research Base

The Chengdu Panda Breeding Research Base is one of the most important instruments in the preservation of the panda species so that future generations can have the chance to live with pandas.

Located just 40 minutes from Kempinski Hotel Chengdu, the Panda Research Base is the largest in the world. Home to the most famous endangered animal on the planet, it houses approximately 60 pandas of various ages. The breeding programme at the Panda Research Base has been very successful. It is recommended that you go in the morning when the pandas are most active.

You are likely to see young pandas and might even get the chance to see newborn panda cubs. The best way to get there is by taxi, which usually costs about RMB 60-70 from Kempinski Hotel Chengdu.

Contact our concierge team at +86 28 8526 9999 ext. 10 or send an email to concierge.chengdu@kempinski.com for arrangements for guided or unguided tours to this "must see" sight in Chengdu.
