MSL painting exhibition - at the Kempinski Gallery

MSL painting exhibition - at the Kempinski Gallery

If the spectator tries to explore the meaning behind the picture’s title, he will realize that the seemingly abstract work turns out to be rather figurative. Every detail is significant. There is no needless decoration; every line is there for a reason. The curves show figures, motions or a landscape.

Nowadays, MSL often turns to mythology. The representation of the ancient stylized culture, the perspective sacral rules and the intuitive evocation echoes with the subjects. He uses the oil paint to the tight and clear color surfaces at the same time with the plastered stone-like surfaces which are developed by him. Thus, the deepening light and shadow moves the paintings in three dimensions. Archaic and progressive. Timeless and precise complex but once comprehended the system even a child can understand this abstraction.

MSL - Painting Exhibition | Kempinski Gallery, BudapestSometimes he gives his mythological theme a cheeky twist putting his protagonists in a present-time modern hedonistic environment such as a Riviera or a beach. Taking away the strictness and seriousness, he is giving his ancient heroes a pinch of humor with a decadent and erotic touch. You see such a joy of life inspecting these paintings.

In the recent years the works of MSL attracted the attention of private collectors and demand for his works increased. His works are included in corporate collections (such as T-Com, Bang&Olufsen, Brokernet, Kempinski Hotel Corvinus Budapest, Hungarian State Ballet Institute) and private collections all over the world in Budapest, Paris, Vienna, Munich, Berlin, Prague, Copenhagen, Sydney, Toronto, Zurich, Santa Barbara, Miami.
