Via Roma’s restaurant's chef, Francesco Sanna is not only an award-winning pizza king. He has been named one of the World's 30 best pasta chefs, one of the World's Top 3 Pizza chefs and an Ambassador of Quality Italian Pizza worldwide.

Born with a gift for preparing authentic Italian cuisine, Chef Sanna started his culinary career in Italy in 1996, going on to work in several five-star hotels including the Ritz-Carlton and Sheraton. Growing up in a country famous for its love of food has equipped Chef Sanna with exciting ideas and a precise work-ethic which he blends together and pushes the boundaries of Italian cuisine. 

With 19 years of industry experience, Chef Sanna has acquired extensive knowledge and skills to competently lead Via Roma’s kitchen team and contribute further to the success of the hotel. Chef Francesco Sanna @ 4th Barilla Pasta World Championship

On the 18th and 19th June 2015, the world’s 21 best Pasta Chefs competed in a exhilarating cooking show for the title World Pasta Champion in Parma, Italy. Invited by Barilla, chefs cooked in the name and taste of real pasta (the key of Italian cuisine) and demonstrated their strong connection and boundaring crossing between different cultures and countries.

Via Roma’s Executive Chef Francesco Sanna was among these 21 chefs, who are “Ambassadors of Italian gastronomic culture, competed for the coveted prize of Pasta World Champion”. He had been chosen out of more than 400 candidates from around the world.

Missing the final by only 0.5 points, Chef Francesco feels incredibly honoured having been part of this great experience and is already inspired for his application to next year’s Pasta World Championship.

Francesco Sanna - "The World's Top 3 Pizza Chef"!

The 7th Italian Cuisine World Summit 2015, considered to be one of the world’s most influential Italian food and lifestyle events, was held in Dubai from the 27th of October to the 5th of November. 

Among all the world-famous masters of Italian cuisine, Chef Francesco joined this competition with full support from Kempinski Hotel Beijing, and with his commitment of serving authentic Italian ­cuisine to the world.

Competing against over 60 master chefs from around the world, Chef Francesco ranked "3rd in Category: Pizza Classica" at the "Best Italian Pizza World Contest".

He won also the title of "Ambassador of Quality Italian Pizza in the World" and once again proved his culinary talent to the world.

The Kempinski Hotel Beijing can't hide the excitement for the arrival of the Trattoria La Gondola restaurant's new chef de cuisine Francesco Sanna, who was born with a gift for preparing authentic Italian cuisine. Chef Sanna started his culinary career in Italy from 1996. Prior to joining Kempinski Hotel Beijing, Chef Sanna has worked in several five-star hotels as Italian Chef such as Ritz-Carlton and Sheraton.Growing up in a very famous pizza-addicting country provided Chef Sanna with many exciting pairing ideas and through his experience of working at numerous luxury properties, he has always pushed the boundaries of Italian cuisine.
In his new role, Chef Sanna will be in charge of the operation of the culinary team at Tratorria La Gondola. With 17 years of industry experience, Chef Sanna has acquired extensive knowledge and skills to competently lead the kitchen team and further contribute to the success of the hotel.
