Kempinski Hotel Badamdar joins the Stop TB campaign
Baku, 19 March 2014.Kempinski Hotel Badamdar, in global partnership with the World Health Organization, organized a Stop Tuberculosis event on the occasion of World TB Day, which takes place every year on 24 March.
The hotel’s team joined forces with the Red Crescent Society toconduct a detailed presentation about the disease, its prevention and the role of Kempinski in the local community. A question and answer session was led by Kai Behrens, general manager of Kempinski Hotel Badamdar and Ms. Matanat Garakhanova, project manager of the Red Crescent Society.
In addition, Kempinski Hotel Badamdar carried out other Stop TB activities, such as having the hotel’s executive team serve lunch to the hotel staff in the newly painted cafeteria decorated with Stop TB posters as well as a bowling tournament to complete the day.
To reach for the hotel’s guests, Stop TB posters were displayed in the elevators and information cards were placed in each room.
“According to the World Health Organization, Azerbaijan is among the 27 high multidrug-resistant (MDR) TB burden countries. The country has made good progress towards the identification and cure of TB, however there is always room for improvement when it comes to models of care, including early diagnosis and treatment of active and latent TB infection,” said Kai Behrens, general manager of Kempinski Hotel Badamdar.“Since one of our responsibilities is to successfully integrate our operations into the life of the local community, wewill do our best to raise awareness among our employees to support the prevention of TB.”
