Kempinski Hotel Ajman Launches the Beach Driving Range

Kempinski Hotel Ajman Launches the Beach Driving Range

Five-star luxury resort Kempinski Hotel Ajman has introduced a whole new level of golf where players tee off into the Arabian Gulf instead of a conventional grass course. Every time the ball hits the water, it disintegrates into fish food to help nurture marine life in Ajman.

Kempinski Hotel Ajman, has launched a new way of saving nature while having fun at the same time. Eco-Golf, which uses Ecobioballs, is a new sustainable way of playing golf while feeding the fish in the sea. The Ecobioball is a 100% biodegradable, non-toxic golf ball that you can use to play real golf at the beach. Ecobioballs have been certified by Applus+ as a non-polluting product that is 100% safe to all plant and marine life, as it is fully biodegradable and non-toxic. Once the ball hits the water, it biodegrades in less than 48 hours and dissolves into fish food.

It is an innovative new concept in Ajman and the difference is that instead of facing the conventional grass, you hit the ball towards the Arabian Gulf. That’s a totally new golf experience for Ajman where the sand becomes the driving range with yard markers placed in the water so that golfers can mark their progress.

Kai Schukowski, General Manager at Kempinski Hotel Ajman, said that “Golf On the Beach”, also known as Eco-Golf, was launched to offer guests not only a fun sport, but also an eco-friendly experience and we had a great honor of hosting PGA Professional Martin Dewhurst from Al Zorah Golf Club, to kick-start the new activity. Schukowski continued, “The ocean is the perfect expanse in which to drive golf balls. This venture supports our values of environmental sustainability through Ecobioballs. So while you’re enjoying a challenging game of golf, you are also providing food for our local marine life. This new golfing experience adds to the numerous recreational activities for hotel guests, local residents and team building events.” Schukowski said the game bypasses the conventional grass driving range and looks ahead towards the sea with golfers hitting the ball from the hotel’s 450-m private beach.
