Vilnius, Lithuania, September 5, 2014. Five-star Kempinski Hotel Cathedral Square in Vilnius Lithuania, celebrates its second anniversary. The hotel was established in 2012 in the Old Town of Vilnius managed by Kempinski Hotels, one of the oldest European luxury hotel.
During the second year of operation Kempinski Hotel Cathedral Squared have appointed new General Manager. Mr. Kees Heuveling continued his work at the luxurious hotel in Vilnius after a successful six year period at other Kempinski properties. During his career, Mr. Hueveling developed a strong background in food and beverage management by working in various properties in the Middle East, Asia and Europe.
Kempinski Hotel Cathedral Square as well apponted a new Executive Chef Javier Lopez. Born in Barcelona, Javier Lopez gained a wealth of international experience with more than 16 years of previous work positions in Michelin-starred restaurants in Spain, Belgium and France. He has also hosted many culinary events in countries such as Iceland, Malta, Sweden, Mauritius and Russia. His Spanish origin, his travels and his experiences in Lithuania gave birth to his own unique style. His contribution to the local gastronomy will enable Vilnius to be included on the map of haute gastronomy.
This summer the roof of Kempinski Hotel Cathedral Square became home to the Kempinski Bee Suite - a half-contained beehive with around 30,000 inhabitants. The beehive at the 4-storey Kempinski Hotel Cathedral Square in the city centre of Vilnius produced around 35 kg natural raw honey for the hotel and restaurant guests. After an examination of the honey quality, it has been accepted to be used for its guests at the hotel for breakfasts, cocktails and pastries.
During Kempinski Hotel Cathedral Square’s second year, guests purchased about 856 bottles, 1457 glasses of sparkling wine and as well as a bottle of Château Margeaux 1989 Champagne. At Kempinski the Spa more than 1500 massages, 300 facials, 876 other treatments were performed.
