Contemporary Art Classes With Rebecca Ivatts
There is nothing like a holiday in a stunning location to bring out the aspiring artist in all of us. And where better to get those creative juices flowing than the Kempinski Hotel Barbaros Bay in Turkey, situated on one of the most breathtakingly beautiful bays of the Aegean. Visit between the 26th April and 3rd May 2011 and you will be able to join Rebecca Ivatts, a leading British artist, for an exciting week of art classes. Rebecca, who has recently exhibited alongside Tracey Emin, will be resident at the Kempinski and hosting small groups of 10-12 budding artists, sharing her insight and knowledge to help inspire them to create their very own masterpiece.
The human figure - as a subject of great power, strength and dynamism - has always been central to Rebecca Ivatt’s work. She is particularly fascinated by how one body or head can interact with another (wrestling, kissing, embracing) and all the ambiguities and flowing rhythms this entails. Rebecca was recently selected alongside Tracey Emin and Maggi Hambling for Amnesty's “400 Women” show at Shoreditch Town Hall.
Rebecca is also well known for her landscape paintings and for the past two years has been selected by Laurent-Perrier to paint their garden live in front of public at Chelsea Flower Show.
Rebecca Ivatts was born in Cambridge in 1972. After graduating in Modern Languages (BA) from Oxford University and Hispanic Studies (MA) from the University of London, Rebecca studied objective life drawing and painting at the Slade School of Art London and anatomy at the Princes Drawing School. Subsequently, she took classes in expressive life drawing with two tutors from the Royal College of Art. Rebecca has studios in both the UK and Spain and has a number of works in private collections in both countries.
The Kempinski Hotel Barbaros Bay is delighted to welcome Rebecca and to offer guests the unique chance to learn new skills and take inspiration from a leading contemporary British artist.
Prices for the Rebecca Ivatts art week start from €862.50 per person, based on double occupancy. Price includes 7 nights’ accommodation, daily breakfast, 5 days art with Rebecca, one dinner and return airport transfers.
