Touch no. 1 Bircher Muesli

Dr. Bircher developed this recipe over 100 years ago to support the well-being of his patients. At the same time, he created a breakfast delicacy. While there are numerous variations and adaptations, we respect the authentic recipe to uphold Dr. Bircher's legacy and our European heritage.

The recipe we use today was voted the best Bircher muesli blend in November 2013. Many of our best chefs from our Central European and German hotels entered the contest. The recipe was chosen as it achieves the perfect balance between a satisfying dish that is not too heavy.

Our Bircher muesli is made from yogurt, whipped cream, raw walnuts, oat muesli, sultanas, green apples, lemon zest, lemon juice, orange juice and honey. A winning combination of flavours and textures.

There isn't an image reflecting European breakfast better than a chef offering you a freshly baked croissant or a basket full of pastries straight from the oven.

These small, yet nutritious and healthy drinks are served at your table. Prepared from a range of nutrient-dense super foods, such as pineapple, carrot, orange and ginger, they deliver a powerful dose of key vitamins and minerals to give you a boost at the start of your day and keep you energised throughout.

Should you feel under the weather, Kempinski Hotel Moika 22 in St. Petersburg recommends the Moika 22 Ginger-Lemon shot to put you right back on your feet. Alternatively you can try the Green Machine rejuvenating recipe at home. Take a bundle of flat leaf kale, half a cucumber, and a generous pinch of basil. Juice the cucumber and put it into a blender, followed by the kale and basil. Blend for at least 1 minute. Add a squeeze of lemon to your taste and serve cold.

Touch no. 4 Chocolate Spread

As part of our European heritage and quest for authenticity we offer homemade chocolate spreads in all of our hotels. This adds just a small touch of indulgence to this important meal of the day!

Made from a decadent blend of cream, 64% dark chocolate and cacao butter, our special version of chocolate spread is rich, thick and full of flavour.

We use Valrhona Manjari dark chocolate for our chocolate spread, a single origin chocolate from Madagascar known for its fresh and fruity flavour, with hints of red fruit and just the right balance of sweetness.

Touch no. 6 Hot Chocolate

We take our hot chocolates very seriously. Our chocolate is not powdered, instead it is melted or stringed ensuring a high quality hot chocolate. Here at Kempinski you can personalise your hot chocolate to your own desired taste.

Choose your own chocolate and vintage - 85% Guanaja or 64% Manjari perhaps? Infuse your chocolate with some caramel or assorted fruit coulis and top it with whipped cream or marshmallows – make it your own!

Many of our hotels offer special local additions - in Geneva you have the option of infusing your drink with “crème double” and in Dubai you can try date bites. If you are not sure what to choose, our Master Chocolatier would be happy to give you a tailored recommendation.

Touch no. 7 Local Speciality

Each country and destination has their own customs, flavours and traditions for breakfast. True to our beliefs in cultural diversity and in the spirit of travel, each of our hotels offers you a local breakfast experience.

On the menu at Çırağan Palace Kempinski Istanbul is a classic Turkish breakfast dish called Menemen. Made from eggs, peppers, spring onions, tomatoes and a sprinkle of chilli flakes, topped with feta and green olives and served with wholegrain pitta bread, it is a delicious and hearty start to your day.

Tea is an essential part of Chinese culture so when you are visiting China, swap your traditional breakfast tea or coffee for one of these delights instead. Eight Treasures Tea served at Kempinski Hotel Yinchuan looks as good as it tastes. Eight special ingredients - dried wolfberries, luo han fruit, chrysanthemum flowers, ginseng, dried grapes, liquorice, dried red dates and rock sugar crystals – are all brewed and served in a cup, and the tea is known for its anti-inflammatory and detoxifying properties.
