 Thundering hooves on spraying snow, exciting gallop and trot races. Did you place your bet on the right horse? Daring men and amazons on skis trailing behind riderless full-bloods on the only skikjöring race in the world. A vertiable feast for the senses and a social highlight of the winter season.

The Engadine Ski Marathon has been held annually since 1969 on the second Sunday of March.

The race is open to the public and all who wish to take up the challenge of covering the classic marathon distance of 42 km are welcome to participate in this mass event.

Starting from Maloja the course runs through Sils - Silvaplana/Surlej - St. Moritz - Pontresina - La Punt - Chamues-ch and ends at the Zuoz/S-chanf "Flablager" (a conglomeration of facilities suited for the organizers' requirements at the goal of the race as well as for the festivities involved.)

St. Moritz today is the center of riding sports in the Alps. Jumping competitions are held here in summer as well as in winter ("Concours Hippique") same as polo tournaments. Also, our many stables have every comfort to offer for the horses, the riding trails are well kept and in the almost century old riding sports center at the lake of St. Moritz nearly every riding wish will be fulfilled.

At the beginning of August there are spectacular windsurfing and kitesurfing regattas on the Silvaplana lake, as well as the Engadin Windsurfing Marathon, which is rich in tradition and the largest event of its kind.

In the beginnings of kitesurfing there were only a few sports people. But the number of passionate pilots rises dramatically with each passing year. Beginners are immediately thrilled by the sensation of gliding on a board propelled by a Kite. Nowadays there are already over 200 kitesurfing pilots visiting us every summer. Events such as the Engadin Wind and the Kitesurf World Cup have given the Lake of Silvaplana its renown among kitesurfers across the world. Kitesurfing is practiced as a rule with a Kite that can be started in the water and a Kiteboard. With the proper coaching it takes three to five days to learn the basics in order to become an assured kitesurfing pilot.

The top event of the season is the Inline Marathon on the closed off cantonal road from Maloja to S-chanf on the last weekend in June.

It is the largest inline skating event of its kind and as far as the landscape goes, certainly the most beautiful one in the world.

Before and after the marathon, many additional inline events are held (downhill, cross country, etc.) with numerous parties and happenings.

Budapest Museum of Applied Arts

The large-scale international exhibition of the Budapest Museum of Applied Arts presents the special luxury art form of the late 15th century Italian art, the majolica through pieces selected from Hungarian and foreign museums.

The Hungarian pálinka is once again in the spotlight in one of the most prominent spring events of the Hungarian capital city, the Hungarian Palinka Festival. This year in the City Hall Park 25 distilleries will showcase our precious hungaricum, the palinka. The four-day palinka show will be held from 8-11 May 2008.

For the international music competition of the ARD - it counts to the most renowned classical music competitions of the world - some 500 young musicians from all over the world, who's aim is an international career, apply yearly. The finale is carried out traditionally with the symphony orchestra of the Bavarian Rundfunk in the Herkulessaal of the Residence.

Munichs big annual open air classical concerts will take place for the 8-th time this year. The cultural seminar paper in alignement with the Munich members of the philharmonic orchestra and the symphony orchestra of the Bavarian broadcasting company presented arrangement, belongs to the climax of the Munich cultural summer. Munich celebrates its 850th foundation day. In remembrance of the crossing of the Isar river by Heinrich the Lion in 1158, the Isar bridges will form the main location for a summery celebration, which will offer et al. "Isar Bridge Nights", festive night illuminations, open air theatres and a "Light-Bridge" at the St. Jacobs Square.

When you hear the word "Oktoberfest", it's almost certain that one word, or perhaps one beverage comes to mind... Beer! The truth is, there is much more behind-the-scenes information that lurks beneath the countless years of this world-renowned Bavarian tradition. Upon completion of the renovation works the programme of Munich's eldest preserved opera house is supposed to be resumed with the Mozart-Opera "Idomeneo" -  in honor of Munich's 850th foundation day.
