Despite being only 27 years old, Christophe is highly experienced in the art of fine dining. He has worked in four Michelin-starred restaurants, including Gordon Ramsay’s restaurant at The Trianon Palace Waldorf Astoria, in Paris, where he was an Executive Sous Chef. He held that position uninterrupted from 2009 until leaving for Kempinski Hotel Moika 22.
Christophe studied the art of cuisine and tableware at Lycee Hyacinthe Friant de Poligny, in France. He learned about modern trends and new approaches to gastronomy with Thierry Marx, one of the most celebrated chefs in France.
Christophe has received many awards. In 2004, he took home 4th place at the French championship of desserts . While Christophe was working as a Sous Chef at Azimut Restaurant, in Courchevel, it was awarded a Michelin star just five months after it opened in 2009.
Christophe’s innovative cooking is inspired by modern French cuisine. He says that “it allows great possibilities for creating culinary masterpieces using the finest and freshest ingredients and offering avant-garde textures, flavours and colour combinations”.
Having become the Executive Chef for Kempinski Hotel Moika 22, Christophe is going to add a New Look to the classic and signature dishes and create new ones in the style of modern French cuisine. Christophe Laplaza’s dishes at Kempinski Hotel Moika 22 will bring the guests an extraordinary gourmet experience.
Christophe oversees the panoramic Bellevue Brasserie restaurant, the Beau Rivage restaurant, the Tea Room, the Von Witte Bar & Lounge and the Wine Cellar 1853, as well as all banqueting and room service.
Besides cuisine, Christophe Laplaza is interested in football and the natural sciences.He is married and has a young daughter.
