Impressive by its taste of fruitiness and freshness, the Siam Passion represents what Kempinski stands for: a collection of individual luxury hotels with European style. ‘The traditional European recipe and the way it is prepared gives the dessert a European twist, while it surprises with its tropical taste and the usage of local Thai fruits at the same time’, says Alfred Merkel, Pastry Chef at Siam Kempinski Hotel Bangkok. The Siam Passion was selected by a jury of 100 journalists as well as 20 General Managers and Board Members of Kempinski Hotels at ITB in Berlin, in an event supported by Moët Hennessy and Valrhona.
Alfred Merkel has worked as a pastry chef at Siam Kempinski Hotel Bangkok since 2011, after joining Kempinski at Hotel Adlon Kempinski in 2007. Before, he gathered experience all over the world while refining his passion for the sweet sides of life.
His culinary journey took him to Asia, France, Germany and Hawaii, where he worked with various Michelin-starred chefs in Germany, on US-American cruise ships and in several five star hotels.
