World Travel Awards are the most comprehensive and prestigious awards programme in the global travel industry. Established in 1993 they serve to acknowledge and celebrate excellence in the world's travel and tourism industry, the winners being voted by 183,000 travel agencies in over 160 countries across the globe.
Nominations are based on the previous year's voting and recommendations made by travel, tourism and hospitality industry professionals. World Travel Awards pronounced Kempinski Hotel Zografski Bulgaria’s Leading Hotel in two consecutive years, 2008 and 2009. The hotel was selected to be the Best Hotel in Bulgaria by Russian Travel Awards Golden Meridian 2009. In the same year the General Manager Mr. Stefan Schwind was ranked among the three best general managers in the world at the 10th anniversary of the Worldwide Hospitality Awards.
